This is an "Animarito" Shisa, made as a folk craft in the Mayan indigenous village of San Juan Chamula in Chiapas, Mexico.

Animalitos are typically stuffed animals such as cats, horses, birds, sheep, and snakes, and are characterized by hand-embroidered colorful wool.

This Shisa was made to order by the indigenous people of Chamura after we explained to them that Shisa are the guardian deities of Okinawa.
Their mouths are also in perfect harmony. (The male has his mouth open, while the female has his mouth closed.)
A nice collaboration between Okinawan Shisa and Mayan indigenous people.
These are handmade by the family of Maria Patishitan Lincanciton (6th photo), the grandmother of the Anima Rito artist.

This Shisa is a very stimulating character with its colorful wool body and colorful embroidery.
How about using it as a guardian deity for your home or shop?

This is sold as a pair (set of 2).
All items are handmade, so there are obvious individual differences.
