This is a lidded pot from "Hutschenreuther" from the 1970s.
The candy-like glossy glaze that was characteristic of Hutschenreuther at that time is very attractive.
Hutschenreuther is still an existing manufacturer, and currently focuses on magnetic tableware, and does not appear to produce flashy items like this pot.
*There is a chip of about 5mm square on the edge of the lid (see image).
Brand
[FAT LAVA]
This type of pottery was produced in large quantities throughout Germany in the 1950s-1970s. Known as "FAT LAVA," it features a texture resembling molten, solidified lava. At the time, there were numerous pottery manufacturers, each selling a variety of designs. The attractive use of glazes and timeless designs are popular worldwide.
[Hutschenreuther]
"Hutschenreuther" began as a painting workshop established in Hohenburg by Carolas Magunus Hutschenreuther in 1814. Hutschenreuther eventually applied to the King of Bavaria for permission to establish a porcelain workshop in order to start producing porcelain himself, but the King rejected the request, fearing competition from the Royal Porcelain Manufactory in Nuremberg at the time. However, Hutschenreuther passionately appealed to the King for permission to open a kiln, and was granted permission on the condition that he "produce products superior to anything else." Upon opening Germany's first private kiln, Hutschenreuther received the Bavarian lion mark, a pledge of "the highest quality," and it remains a source of pride for Hutschenreuther.
